Karl ‘Charly’ Elsener (1934-2010)

Der ehemalige Schweizer Nati-Goalie ist in Zürich einer Lungenentzündung erlegen.

In der Saison 1953/54 spielte Elsener beim FC Winterthur. 1956 gewann er mit dem Grasshopper-Club Zürich die Meisterschaft in der Nationalliga A. Der 34-fache Internationale nahm an zwei Weltmeisterschaften teil…

…hier sehen wir ihn im Tor der Schweizer Nati im Vorrunde-Spiel Deutschland-Schweiz an der WM 1966 in England. Der Kommentator erwähnt Elsener nicht – Elsener muss fünfmal hinter sich greifen, das Spiel endet 5:0 für Deutschland.
