Our Weekly Postcard (LXX)

Pigs in Friedrichsfelde zoo

They have no iPhone 3G but are (nevertheless) happy: Vietnamese pigs we encountered last week in Tierpark Berlin-Friedrichsfelde, Europe’s largest zoological garden.

It’s SUMMERTIME here in Europe. Holidays are starting everywhere; Senator Obama will come to hold a speech in front of Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate, and even most animals in the zoos are now enjoying the warm weather and the sunshine to get some relaxation time from their hectic social schedules.

So do we. Until Monday!

Paperholic: Being absent on business

For about one week. Berlin is calling (once more).

We can’t wait to find out what’s in store for us there in the next days. Germany has a big chance to win its first European Championship since 1996 in today’s showdown at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna. Victory or defeat, in any case there will be a Fanfest with the national football team at the Brandenburg Gate on Monday. happy gif Maybe we will stop by for a beer or two.

So, blogging here (and commenting on other blogs) will be suspended for the next week. But, as you know, there are always exceptions to every rule.

In any case, we wish you a pleasant time and all the best. Stay tuned, pls.

Paperholic Interna: Let’s grade!

Randbemerkung: Für eine erste grobe Übersicht genügt es, dort im obersten Feld die URL des eigenen Blogs einzutragen, und man darf auch getrost und ungestraft auf die Angabe seiner E-Mail-Adresse verzichten.

WebsiteGrader ist ein kostenloses SEO-Online-Tool, das die marketing effectiveness of a website misst. [Sorry, no time for a translation!] Etwas paradox im Falle eines Ads-freien Blogs wie Paperholic, aber deswegen nicht minder informativ: Google PageRank, Dig&Dug o.ä., das Gründungs- und Verfallsdatum usw. usf. - viele Details, schliesslich aber auch zwei Allgemeinnoten: eine in Form eines Prozentwerts, die andere verbal - das Niveau des Blogs charakterisierend.

Für Paperholic lautet letztere Note gegenwärtig (d.h. in Q2): college undergraduate.

Das ist schon fast ideal für ein Blog - nicht zu dumm, nicht zu gescheit. Vor drei Monaten (d.h. in Q1) lagen wir um eine (Bildungs-)Stufe höher - was damals von unserer Controlling-Abteilung auch sofort als zu hoch eingemahnt worden war. :shock:
