Our Weekly Postcard (LXXII)
Tomorrow is Swiss National Day. So we will have a l-o-n-g weekend of 3 days. Without blogging, without hard working. Time to take some relaxation and to think about the last 12 months.
I suppose that Mr. Pascal Couchepin, President elected of the Confederation in 2008, will deliver a speech on TV this evening. About the role of Switzerland in the world, about the importance of his travels through the world, and finally, about the living together in our society.
My worries are that Mr. Couchepin will make no mention of the blogosphere – which is becoming more and more a sort of abstract battle ground, not least in Switzerland. Here following are some of the qualifications in German language we got when commenting in other blogs; translate them by yourself, pls, I myself can’t – they are too hard and obscene for me:
alter Hallodri; Rabulist; einer, der keinen Strich ziehen kann (… unter die Vergangenheit); ein Biedermann als Brandstifter; typischerweise anonym
So, and to come to the end, I want, on the eve of our National Day and as an addendum to the above mentioned speech of our President this evening, to call for more thoughtfulness and common sense also in Swiss blogosphere. I hope my words will find some open ears.
We wish you a nice time.
To the backside of our postcard: A woman I once met while photographing art in Berlin – thoughtfulness and common sense at it’s best! Nearly, at least – I hope you understand what I mean.
