Stock Markets: September – the good ol’ Anglo-Saxons called it ‘Harvest Month’…

… but later on it got the worst month for stocks and investing. The 1929 stock market crash began in September, and Lehman Brothers filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September 2008.

I think it’s okay and pretty normal to be a little bit nervous now, and we also must keep in mind that after September comes October with Halloween and the anniversary of October 19 (Black Monday), 1987, when stock markets around the world crashed in a very short time – the largest one-day percentage decline in stock market history…

…but still no need to lose your nerves (nor your money) because finally November will come, and November is historically seen a far better month for the markets than October.

Sometimes a cold shower can’t hurt

»Memories seem to be short when it comes to losing money.«

Douglas A. McIntyre, in The Return Of Speculation (24/7 Wall St., August 28):

The fact of the matter is that risk was not wrung out of the market five months ago. It only hibernated briefly. Not a single lesson was learned by some investors. They are still willing to bet that they can outsmart the system of analyzing and trading stocks and be part of the small subset of investors who consistently make strong returns. There is almost no one who can do that with any regularity. It is a sort of investing utopia that no trader has ever found.

U.S. markets open – better fasten your seatbelts

Holy shmoly – what a strong wave of profit taking is just on its way. Well, that’s not our business; we better have a look at this video: a precision landing, no touch and go operation needed – in some respects, I dare say, an abstract model for and/or a key to a foolproof ( ) long-term investment strategy:
