For your desk or bookcase: The Berlin Siegessaeule

On July 24, Sen. Barack Obama will deliver his speech in Berlin in front of a Prussian war monument called the Victory Column, or Siegessaeule.

The 226-foot column, built in 1873, stood in front of Germany’s parliament building the Reichstag (postcard below, circa 1900, from Wikipedia), until 1938, when the Nazis moved it to its current location in the middle of the Tiergarten park.

There is a small but nice draft at Flickr you can print, cut-out, fold and glue to get a small but nice model of the Siegessaeule (in color).
