Our Weekly Postcard (LXVIII)

We’re not out of the woods yet, and the EURO 2008 starts already on June 7th. So little time, so much to do. Unsere Trendforschung bestätigt: Blocher von Jones distanziert

Wenn wir uns in der Mittagspause langweilen, dann stöbern wir bei Google-Trends und lassen Such-Begriffe gegen einander antreten. Heute langweilten wir uns in der Mittagspause und verglichen nach getätigter Voraussage (Wir wetten, dass…): Blocher gegen Widmer-Schlumpf gegen Indiana Jones gegen Köbi Kuhn. Das Ergebnis:

Feedback: Richtig lagen wir mit unserer Voraussage, dass Indiana Jones bereits im Vorfeld der Filmfestspiele von Cannes Alt-Bundesrat Christoph Blocher ein- und klar überholt hatte und dass Köbi Kuhn irrelevant war. Getäuscht hatten wir uns allerdings in Frau Widmer-Schlumpf, von der wir mehr Such-Prominenz erwarteten als nur gerade einen Höhepunkt im April.

Jones und Blocher im Aufwärtstrend - obwohl doch beide in den letzten Tagen derart schlechte Kritiken einstecken mussten (Stichwort: fahrige Altmeister)? Anders gefragt: Suchen die Menschen denn nur nach dem Negativen? Nein! Denn wird der Betrachtungszeitraum auf die letzten 30 Tage verkürzt und dadurch aktualisiert, zeigen beide Kurven eine Trendumkehr: Im Fall Blocher ab der Arena-Fernsehdiskussion unter seiner Teilnahme, im Fall Jones ab der Uraufführung von Indiana Jones und das Königreich des Kristallschädels in Cannes:

Ankündigung: Sollten wir uns auch morgen in der Mittagspause langweilen, werden wir Doris Leuthard gegen Micheline Calmy-Rey gegen Josef Fritzl gegen Ottmar Hitzfeld antreten lassen. Und wir wetten jetzt, dass Micheline Calmy-Rey dominierte, Fritzl vor Hitzfeld lag und Leuthard irrelevant blieb.

Against the tradition: Naturmobil

Traditionally, it’s the horse’s job to pull the cart or wagon (for example, a Milkhorse in Birmingham UK). Dubai-based inventor Abdolhadi Mirhejazi has now created a vehicle where the horse, protected by an all-weather canopy, rides inside, i.e. behind the driver:
