South African-based photographer Pieter Hugo (Website) won first prize in the Portraits section of the 2006 World Press Photo competition and has produced three monographs: Looking Aside (2006), Messina/Musina (2007) and The Hyena & Other Men (2007).

‘All you need to make a movie is a girl and a gun…’
Franco-Swiss director, writer, producer, cinematographer, post–production supervisor, actor, editor Jean-Luc Godard turns 77 today. For this occasion, a link to Agnès Varda’s silent comedy Les Fiancés du Port Mac Donald (1961) featuring Godard and Anna Karina*. Godard at the age of 30 and, for some short moments, without glasses…
*In fact, Godard and Karina married on 3 March 1961, during the shooting of Une femme est une femme, and divorced in 1967.
